Haubstadt, IN, April 10, 2009. The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will open the 2009 season Saturday evening May 2nd at the Terre Haute Action Track. The Don Smith Classic is set to take the green flag at 7 P.M. Warm-ups and hot laps begin an hour earlier. The sprints are scheduled to be the only class in competition that night. Action Promotions, LLC, serve as the promoters of the track and this first program is for Sprints Only!
The Midwest Sprint Car Series is beginning its ninth season of operation. Over the years MSCS has appeared a dozen times at the quick half mile Action Track. At least 10 races there have produced 10 different winners. Bud Kaeding leads all MSCS feature winners with three Action Track victories. The track's legacy is synonymous with the history of sprint car racing. It has an all-out appeal that has always lured the best available driving talent. In 2008 Robert Ballou took the Smith Classic, the first of four victories for him in MSCS competition in 2008.
The Midwest Sprint Car Series will be at Tri-State Speedway the next Saturday May 9th. The series will run on 4 consecutive weekends in May with a stop at Florence Speedway in Kentucky on May 16th followed by the traditional Memorial Weekend appearance at Tri- State Speedway on Sunday May 24th. A May 30th date was one of 2 dates dropped from the schedule after its initial release in February and that weekend remains open.
