Marysville CA - June 9, 2009 --- Saturday night promoters Paul and Kathy Hawes
will present the “June Open Wheel Spectacular”. A full program of hammer
down open wheel only action is slated for this weekend. The MRP Winged Sprint
Cars and the Browns Valley RV Wingless Sprint Car Series will headline the show.
The Pro 4 Sprint Cars and the BCRA Midgets Lites will also be presented.
The MRP Winged Sprint Car show features the closest point battle this observer can remember at this juncture in the season. Amazingly, only 1 point separates 3 contenders for the title. AND, they are ALL former champions. Two of the contenders are 3 time champs trying to become MRP’s 1st ever 4-time champ. The division is dripping with drama as the grind of the summer months is upon us. A nearly disastrous Mel Hall race for Jeremy Burt allowed both Brent Dothage and Korey Lovell to close the gap that Burt has worked hard for all season. Actually Dothage is the series leader just 1 point ahead of Burt and Lovell who are deadlocked in 2nd. Only Burt’s dramatic charge forward after his bad luck in the Hall race lessoned the blow in the standings. The championship battle in the Browns Valley RV Wingless Sprint Car Series is just as close as Cort Dozier leads Tony Richards by a single marker in that championship chase. Like the winged cars, this is the closest point chase in recent memory in this division as well at this point in the season. The gates open at 5PM. Practice and qualifying at 6PM.
