NATIONAL SPRINT CAR MUSEUM LOOKING FOR PHOTOS OF CHERYL GLASS FOR EXHIBIT

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (March 26, 2009) - The National Sprint Car Museum is currently looking for photos and/or video of the late Cheryl Glass for its exhibit honoring sprint car racing’s only black female driver. According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “Cheryl’s mother, Shirley Glass, has provided us with some great photos, as have John Mahoney and George Hespe. But we now realize that we need several more to round out the special display. We would like to have the exhibit complete by our Friday night, May 1, special reception.”

The exhibit features the following two museum-owned cars that Cheryl Glass drove during her career:

- the number 32 sprint car, owned by Jack Conner, donated by John Nelson,

- the number 25 United States Auto Club (USAC) championship dirt car, owned at various times by Leonard Surdam, Leonard Faas and Charlie Patterson, donated by Mike Dewey.

Those wishing to donate photos or film to the National Sprint Car Museum for its “Salute to Cheryl Glass” are urged to contact curator Tom Schmeh at 1-800-874-4488. Those seeking more information on the non-profit museum foundation are encouraged to visit its web site at www.sprintcarhof.com.
