“Langhorne” and “Hinnershitz” Books Now Available at National Sprint Car Museum

Knoxville, Iowa (March 4, 2009) – There are few words that excite veteran ‘big car’ and sprint car fans as much as “Langhorne” and “Hinnershitz” do. And the National Sprint Car Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, is proud to announce that it is now carrying the newly released books “Tommy Hinnershitz: the Life and Times of an Auto Racing Legend” and “Langhorne: No Man’s Land” in its store.

The Tommy Hinnershitz biography was written by author Gary Ludwig, who was once a columnist for Illustrated Speedway News. The book chronicles the extraordinary racing career of National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (NSCHoF) inductee Tommy Hinnershitz, the “Flying Dutchman” from Oley, Pennsylvania. The book was published by Basket Road Press, Inc., and is now available at the National Sprint Car Museum in Knoxville and through its on-line store. The retail price is $29.95.

The book about the legendary track in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was written by noted motorsports historian L. Spencer Riggs. The life-long racing enthusiast has authored several motorsports books and is a member of the NSCHoF’s National Induction Committee. The book includes a foreward by Brock Yates and tells the fabled Langhorne story from its beginning in 1926 through its last hurrah in ‘71. The book, published by Pitstop Books, is full of great photos from Langhorne and is now available at the museum store, priced at $75.

Also back in the museum store inventory is the book, “Up On The Wheel”, written by “Bud” Hunnicutt. “Up On The Wheel” is a very informative book about Kansas City area auto racing with regards to its stars and jalopies, supermodifieds, midgets and sprint cars. Published by Walsworth Publishing Company, “Up On The Wheel” sells for $39.95
