MAY 18, 2009 --- Saturday night's Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint race at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway is titled a "Salute to Indy," paying homage to this Sunday's Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.
A 16-point margin separates the top two drivers in the latest USAC/CRA standings going into Saturday night's racing program at the half-mile dirt oval. Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. is the leader over David Cardey of Perris, with Blake Miller of Yorba Linda, Calif. five behind Cardey in third.
Spencer and Cardey are two of the five drivers who have tasted victory in this year's series. No driver has repeated yet this season and the past eight series races have produced different winners.
Spencer's 2009 season has included a win and two other "top-10s," while Cardey has a win and a second to his credit. On March 28 they finished 1-2!
