APRIL 27, 2009 --- Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. hosts the next Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint race, May 16. Cory Kruseman won at the 3/8-mile dirt oval two years ago and could again be a top threat for victory.
Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. will take a 16-point lead over David Cardey into the race, with Blake Miller third in the latest standings.
Cardey, of Riverside, Calif., grabbed the lead from Miller on the final lap to win Saturday night's 30-lap Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint car thriller at Perris Auto Speedway. Cardey led laps 9-28 before slipping behind Miller on the white-flag lap, but regained the top spot exiting turn two on the last lap in his ITI Performance/Empire Plumbing Viper/Chevy and held on to score a narrow victory over Miller, Rip Williams, Danny Sheridan and Greg Bragg.
Cardey becomes the fifth different USAC/CRA race winner in five 2009 races. Spencer finished eight in the 30-lapper. Jordan Hermansader and Josh Ford also led the feature. Kruseman was the fastest qualifier.
