MARCH 23, 2009 --- The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway and the series standings are sure to undergo a major revision as a result.
Following the three opening races in February, which also awarded National points, the National drivers dominate the "top-10" in the standings, with Cole Whitt, the winner at Las Vegas, Nev. Feb. 25 the current leader.
The first 50 adult fans through the gate Saturday will each receive a free Perris Auto Speedway cap courtesy of Sunoco and the PAS. All fans arriving during the first hour of open gates will also have a two-for-one food price opportunity.
The previous 101 USAC/CRA Sprint races at Perris have produced 24 different winners. Who will be #25? Damion Gardner leads the all-time list at 21 wins, followed by Tony Jones at 18 and Cory Kruseman at 13. Defending USAC/CRA Champion Mike Spencer will be out to tie Rip Williams for fourth all-time at seven wins each if he can take Saturday's 30-lapper.
Saturday's Perris events also include the California Lightning Sprints on the half-mile as well as USAC California Dirt Ford Focus and California Junior Ford Focus racing on the quarter-mile.
