CHICO, CA (6-2-09) - After taking a week off the Feather Falls Casino point championship racing series returns this Friday night, June 5, at the ASA Sanctioned Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Point race #8 will feature the 410 sprints; street stocks and wingless sprints will all be on hand. Local company Miller Glass is the event sponsor. With their great support the 410 winged sprint cars will once again race for $2,000 to win. Adding a hand to the racing festivities is Skyway Tools. With the help of Skyway Tool Center there will be extra money awarded in the wingless division and a dash for tools featuring six of the wingless drivers.
Racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area and visit the 24P Wingless sprint car pit to see plenty of tools on display from Skyway Tool Center.
The street stock division has the tightest point race for this weekends event. Phil Marino leads Heather Bartlett by just six points. This will be the fourth point race of the year for this division. Marino leads the charge with two main event wins; yet, it was Bartlett thrilling the large fair crowd by capturing the most recent main event. Jake Vantol and Richard Workman along with Joe Longmire have all been knocking at the door.
Bobby McMahan continues to lead the 410 winged sprint car standings. McMahan is looking for his first main event win on the season. However, it is his consistent finishes that have propelled him into the top spot. Right on his heels are Chico's Jonathan Allard and Grass Valley's Mark Hall. Having their own battle for fourth and fifth is Colby Copeland and Andy Forsberg. All five drivers are expected this Friday night.
The wingless division will host its second annual Skyway Tool Center night. There is extra money in the main event and we will host the popular Dash for Tools. Representatives from Makita and SK Hand Tools will also be in the pit area with demonstrations of the latest and greatest tools in the industry along with Skyway Tool Center. Skyway Tool Center driver Jimmy Pettit leads the charge for the wingless series. Pettit holds a 16-point lead over Taylor Simas in the Joe Hunt Magnetos point standings. Jay Youngman, Brandon Davis and Terry Schank Jr. round out the top five.
Located at the corner of Bruce Road and the Skyway, Skyway Tool Center owners Doug & Sherry Gillis always feature a great assortment and terrific pricing on all the tools any person could want or need...."if we don't have it, it probably doesn't exist".
As a sponsor of Jimmy Pettit, they are celebrating 9 years of a successful relationship that has seen many victories aboard the 24P car. "Doug and Sherry have always been a great sponsor and are always supportive of racing as a local owner that has seen business booming because people see the value of shopping local and how much it benefits the community as a whole".
