DAVID CARDEY EYES USAC/CRA POINT LEAD!
|
(MAY 19, 2009, RIVERSIDE, CA) The hottest open wheel driver on the west coast, Riverside, California's "Dynamite" David Cardey, is set to return to action and make a run at the series point lead when the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series resumes with the Salute to Indy this Saturday, May 23rd, at Perris Auto Speedway.
After a month off the series returns to action and Cardey is more than ready to strap his slender frame into his brilliant red ITI Performance Viper Chassis Sprint Car that is powered by an ITI Performance Racing Engine. Heading into Saturday's Memorial weekend event, Cardey, who got off to a slow start in the first three races of the 2009 campaign, is a mere 16 points behind current point leader and defending series champion Mike Spencer.
To say the plumbing company executive is anything but "HOT" in his recent outings would be an understatement. In the last two USAC/CRA main events at The PAS, Cardey has started on the outside of the third row. On March 28th he rolled from that spot to a close second behind Spencer in the 30 lap main event. Four weeks later, on April 25th, he came from the same starting spot to win the feature.
In addition to the likeable drivers recent prowess in the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series, Cardey won the California Lightning Sprint Car main on The PAS quarter mile on May 2nd.
After a rather slim schedule to start the season, the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series will pick up steam as it has four races scheduled in the next five weeks. David Cardey will be at every one of them as he fights for the 2009 USAC/CRA title. After this Saturday's race at The PAS, the series heads to the famous Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare on May 30th. Following a week off, it will make its way to Chris Kearns' Santa Maria Speedway on June 13th and the series will make its first ever appearance at Petaluma Speedway on June 20th.
David Cardey and his team would like to thank their sponsors for making the 2009 season possible: ITI Motorsports, Empire Plumbing, Circle Track Racing, Racer's Pub, Powell Pipe & Supply, Eibach Springs, Hoosier Tires, and Scott Daloisio Sports.
