| ASCS Canyon Region Sets 2009 Schedule |

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (February 20, 2009) – Rapidly establishing itself as one of the premier wingless Sprint Car series in the nation over the past two seasons, the Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region has announced its 2009 schedule of events. Currently, the ASCS Canyon Region is slated for 14 nights of competition atop the famed clay of Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ. The series opens the season on Saturday night, March 7, with the Lealand Legacy, a tribute to open wheel racing standout Lealand McSpadden of Tempe, AZ. The event marks the first of 9 cards slated for the 1/3-mile Manzanita Speedway oval. The series will also take to Manzanita's ½-mile oval on a handful of occasions, the first being the Donny Davis Memorial on April 11. Several specials dot the schedule, including the 51-lap Wayne Weiler Salute to Indy on May 23 and the traditional Firecracker 40 on July 3. Jeremy Sherman of Surprise, AZ, will be gunning for a third consecutive ASCS Canyon Region championship in 2009 after taking top honors over each of the past two seasons. The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
