NOVEMBER 21, 2008 --- Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. will become the second member of the Kingsburg, Calif. racing family to earn USAC's Western Sprint Car championship Thursday when he competes in the series finale at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Calif.
The race, part of this year's 68th "Turkey Night Grand Prix" activities, is a 40-lapper on the track's 1/2-mile oval and should feature a stellar field of cars and drivers.
Swanson, in his "rookie" sprint car season, has won three times this year and posted even other "podium" finishes, gracing the podium in his last starts! He is the younger brother of Kody Swanson, the 2005 Western Sprint Car champ. Tanner's also been the fastest qualifier nine times in 2008!
JoJo Helberg, who ranks second to Swanson entering the finale, earlier claimed USAC's Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series title.
