SWANSON, BURDETT LEAD SPRINTS TO SLC SATURDAY
PIEROVICH NOTCHES FIRST USAC SPRINT WIN AT ALTAMONT
|
JULY 21, 2008 --- Tanner Swanson and Ryan Burdett will try to maintain point leads when the USAC Western and Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series combine for this Saturday night’s events at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah. A 40-lap feature is on tap and Swanson holds a 32-point lead over Nick Rescino Jr. in the Western points, while Burdett is only nine ahead of JoJo Helberg in the Rocky Mountain points.
Scott Pierovich of Alamo, Calif., led the final 22 laps of Saturday’s race to record his first win inn the series in the Eibach Springs Eagle/Chevy. He was trailed by Eric Humphries, Brian McClish, Swanson and Bobby Santos III. Tony Hunt led the first eight laps but finished eighth.
Burdett must rate the favorite Saturday, having scored three victories in four RMR starts so far this season. Swanson finished seventh in the April “combo” race at RMR.
