WESTERN SPRINTS IDLE UNTIL JULY 19 AT TRACY;
SMITH EARNS FIRST USAC VICTORY IN ALTAMONT 50-LAPPER

JUNE 30, 2008 --- Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. continues to lead the USAC Western Sprint Car Series as it pauses between races at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. The series resumes at the 1/2-mile paved oval July 19.
Porter Smith of Aztec, N.M. earned his first USAC feature victory Saturday night at Altamont, leading the final 14 laps of the 50-lap USAC Western Sprint race in his K & N Filters/Platinum Powder Coating Eagle/Losorwith.
Teammate Ryan Kaplan took second ahead of Chase Scott, Nick Rescino Jr. and point leader Swanson. Eric Humphries led the first 36 laps and finished ninth.
Rescino trails Swanson in the standings by only 13 points after his second-place finish.
