APRIL 21, 2008 --- The opening event of Rocky Mountain Raceways “Super Oval
Season” is slated Saturday in Salt Lake City, Utah and Tanner Swanson of
Kingsburg, Calif. takes a two-point Western Sprint Car lead into the event which
includes a 40-lap feature.
Swanson finished third at Tracy, Calif. Saturday after posting the fastest
qualifying time. Nick Rescino Jr. is second in the new standings after finishing
second at Tracy.
Brian McClish of Santa Rosa Calif. led the final 37 laps to win the
“Pacific Coast Spring Nationals” Western Sprint opener at Altamont
Motorsports Park in his McClish Excavating Beast/Hansen Chevy. He was followed
at the checkered flag by Rescino, Swanson, Greg Anderson and Chase Scott. Tim
Barber led the first three laps, then defending series champion Ryan Kaplan led
the next 10 before yielding to McClish.
This Saturday’s Salt Lake City race is the opener for the 2008 Young
Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Series and also offers points toward the 2008
Western Sprint championship.
Ryan Burdett of West Jordan, Utah won last year’s Rocky Mountain title and
recorded two feature wins at the Salt Lake oval.
