GRAND SLAM SPRINTERS, DWARF CARS, YOUTHS RACE AT VENTURA

‘VENTURA, Calif. (Aug. 20, 2008) – Racers of all ages and skill levels will flock to Ventura Raceway Saturday as the track hosts its first race since July.
The Raceway hosts the final round of the Bandit/Ventura Racing Association Grand Slam series for sprint cars, an event expected to draw 45 cars to Seaside Park. The VRA Dwarf Car series are also on the schedule, as are the VRA youth classes.
The spectator gates open at 3 p.m. and the youth classes start racing at 3:30. The four youth classes include drivers starting at five years of age, driving specially designed racecars.
The sprint cars and Dwarf cars begin racing at 5:30.

Raceway notes: The first three races of the Bandit/VRA Grand Slam series have averaged an entry of 39.3 cars...Two of the three races have attracted 41 cars each...Peter Murphy, the current points leader, won the 2005 Grand Slam title. Jim Crawford won in 2006 and Greg Taylor won last year...Murphy hopes to come to Ventura a day early so he can get in some surfing...The Raceway's youth classes have attracted 45 entrants so far this season...The VRA Pro Dwarf and Senior Dwarf car classes have combined to attract 91 entries so far this season.
