TEMPLEMAN, VRA SPRINTERS RETURN TO VENTURA RACEWAY

OXNARD, Calif. (April 16, 2008) – It’s early, but the chase for Ventura Raceway’s Sprint Car championship is already starting to take shape.
Aqua Dulce’s Richard McCormick leads the points race and hopes to extend his advantage when racing resumes at Seaside Park Saturday, April 19. The Sprint Car class will share the track with the track’s Senior Sprint Car, IMCA Modifieds, Sport Compact and Junior Focus Midgets.
Racing begins at 5:30 p.m.
McCormick leads the Sprint Car class with 1,065 points. Santa Clarita’s Clark Templeman is next with 1,045, just ahead of a third-place tie between Kevin Kierce of Reseda and Chris Wakim of Simi Valley. Kierce and Wakim have 1,020 each.
Ventura’s Greg Taylor finished second and Kierce was fifth in the Bandit-VRA Grand Slam race at Hanford Speedway on April 12. They were the top-finishing Ventura regulars in the event.
