(JANUARY 5, 2008 - OXNARD, CA) – As Ventura Raceway hustles toward the 2008 season, five events of note are on the calendar in the coming weeks.
January 26 – The annual General Meeting for Ventura Racing Association teams.
This meeting is an opportunity for the teams to register for the 2008 season, get the rule sheets for each racing division and ask questions about the coming season.
Where: Ventura County Fairgrounds Gem and Mineral Building.
When: Registration starts at noon, the General Meeting begins at 2 p.m.
February 2 – The Ventura Racing Association’s Junior Midget and Mini Dwarf Awards program and open practice.
The Raceway honors the 2007 participants in the youth classes and holds an open practice for those classes only.
Where: Ventura Raceway.
When: Pits open at 10 a.m. Awards and lunch at noon. Practice is 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
How much: Free.
February 9 – The Ventura Racing Association’s annual awards banquet. The Raceway honors the 2007 champions and other award winners. Plus, everybody eats dinner.
Where: Ventura County Fairgrounds Agricultural Building
When: No host bar opens at 6 p.m., the banquet program starts a 7 p.m.
How much: Dinner tickets cost $30. The deadline to purchase tickets is Feb. 1.
February 23 -- Open practice for all divisions with races scheduled at Ventura Raceway in 2008.
The Raceway holds a session for teams to take their cars through technical inspection and for drivers to get some track time prior to the start of the 2008 season.
Where: Ventura Raceway.
When: Pits open at 10 a.m. Technical inspection starts at noon. Tune/test session 1-4 p.m.
Who: Cars eligible for races scheduled at Ventura Raceway in 2008.
How Much: Pit passes cost $30 for VRA members, $40 for non-members.
March 1 -- Open practice for all divisions with races scheduled at Ventura Raceway in 2008.
