Victorville, CA…Blake Miller (Yorba Linda, CA) took home the $5,000.00
first-place prize after he drove the Jeff Gardner / Roy Miller Freightlines No.
93 Sled to a 40-lap victory Saturday night at the Victorville Auto Raceway.
Miller started the race in the third position and immediately moved into second-place behind leader Seth Wilson. With fast time qualifier Mike Spencer charging to the front from the seventh starting spot, Wilson would pace the 22-car field for the first 22 circuits before giving way to Miller. Spencer moved into second and would take the lead form Miller on the 25th lap. However, mechanical woes would sideline Spencer two laps later giving the lead back to Miller. Once back out front, Miller successfully withstood numerous challenges from Wilson and the Alexander Trucking No. 4 DRC driven by defending USAC/CRA Champion Tony Jones. Jones, who started the race in the eighth-position, would eventually finish in the runner-up spot with Davey Pombo driving the Glenn Crossno / ITI Performance No. 38 Viper to a third-place finish. Josh Ford placed fourth in the Keith Ford / V-Mac No. 73. Robert Ellis edged Cody Williams to give his Hose King No. 43 Ellis a fifth-place finish. Arizona driver Shon Deskins finished seventh and received a $500 bonus for being the highest finishing car with a 360-motor. Even though VAR drivers earned series points, the race was billed as an “open-competition” race and marked the first promoting effort for Cary Faas and Jack Gardner, Jr. ### SPRINT CAR RESULTS: April 19, 2008 –Victorville Auto Raceway, Victorville, California QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
