APRIL 4, 2008 --- Heavy overnight Thursday rains inundated an already saturated surface and in the interest of safety and concern for the race teams, officials at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH have reached a decision to postpone Saturday’s (April 5) planned “Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic” USAC National Sprint Car race. The event, which includes Moser UMP Modifieds and Advance Auto Parts Stock Cars, has been rescheduled for Saturday night, May 10.
“The ground is absolutely saturated” commented disheartened Eldora General Manager Larry Kemp. “We all remember what we went through last spring and none of us wants to do that again. Additionally, in view of the high fuel costs for the fans and teams, we wanted to announce it early.”
The event will now be titled the “Don Branson/Jud Larson Pole Night Sprints,” continuing with the tradition of honoring two of USAC’s most celebrated Sprint car stars of all time.
Sunday’s (April 6) USAC “doubleheader” of Mopar National Midget and Kenyon Midget competition at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway remains on as scheduled.
