20, 2008 --- Eric Bunn, who has served as USAC’s Ford Focus Coordinator since the series’ inception in 2002, will assume new duties as USAC’s Fire, Safety & Health Official, effective immediately. A new USAC Ford Focus Coordinator will be appointed soon to oversee USAC’s eight Ford Focus championships.
Under the re-alignment, Bunn will handle all matters related to fire and safety management and insurance, including coordination with race facilities regarding safety requirements and personnel. His duties will span the entire spectrum of USAC competition.
In addition, Bunn will continue to supervise and administrate USAC’s popular “Wednesday Night Thunder” series of racing events.
“My career in motorsports gives me an opportunity to impact the field of safety, an area I’ve always considered high priority,” said Bunn. “Safety at USAC has always been Job #1 and we take pride in our leadership role in the industry. I hope to be able to offer our participants and fans the level of safety and security which has been a trademark of our company for its 52 years, with a focus on improvements where necessary.”
As USAC’s Ford Focus Coordinator, Bunn oversaw 401 total racing events and the expansion from one to eight different championships across the country, including the crowning of a National Ford Focus Champion, His attention to detail will serve his new position well.
