MARCH
20, 2008 --- Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway will present back-to-back USAC National Sprint Car races April 18-19 as a result of the recent announcement regarding postponement of the April 19 race at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway.
Race organizer Jiggs Thomason has added the Saturday night, April 19, race to his already-scheduled April 18 event. That creates a three-race weekend for the series, with the “Rich Vogler Classic” slated at the 1/2-mile paved Winchester (Ind.) Speedway on Sunday, April 20.
“Inclement weather led to construction delays at Lawrenceburg, opening the April 19 date,” indicates series coordinator Greg Staab. “While we are in the process of rescheduling the Lawrenceburg race, Jiggs has stepped forward to keep the three-race weekend intact for race fans.”
The past six years have seen 11 USAC Sprint races on the 1/4-mile Gas City dirt, Jon Stanbrough winning three times, Cory Kruseman and J.J. Yeley winning twice. Tracy Hines, Jay Drake, Shane Cottle and Daron Clayton also own Sprint wins there under USAC sanction.
