POST-RACE QUOTES & NOTES:
Levi Jones, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet/Bass Pro Shops/BEAST for Tony Stewart Racing (TSR):
“We were too free at the start of the feature and that condition worsened over the course of the race. I gained about an inch of stagger during the 30 lap feature. It felt like I was free enough to run a race at Eldora by the time the checkered flag came out. Our Chevy engines had plenty of power for the half-mile and we would’ve liked to have finished in the top-five for them and Bass Pro Shops. We definitely learned a few things for our next pavement race and I think we’ll be able to apply that knowledge to our cars as we get deeper into the season.
Tracy Hines, driver of the No. 21 Chevrolet/Bass Pro Shops/Maxim for Tony Stewart Racing (TSR):
“I had too much stagger at the beginning of the feature and it really made the car loose for the race. It cost us some track position in the end and we ended up third. The track was pretty much the same all day long. It didn’t change much from practice to the feature. The bias-ply tires we compete on really keep us pretty stable throughout the course of a pavement event. We also struggled a little bit on the last restart. I think a fuel pick-up issue cost me a little bit. We’ll take what we learned today and work on things for the next pavement race. I think TSR will be able to put Chevy and Bass Pro Shops in victory lane sooner rather than later.”
