April 6, 2008…The potency of Team Tarlton was displayed this past weekend, as the Central Valley based cars showed diversity and power, as wins came in both winged and non-winged Sprint car action.
Peter Murphy and Tommy Tarlton guided the immaculately prepared Tarlton & Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Ridgeline Framing, Sharp Insurance, VMAC, BR Motorsports, Fresno First Bank, Pro Signs, #21 Maxim’s to victory lane.
Tommy Tarlton, who has raced very little in previous seasons, so he could focus on the family business, was all business last Friday night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, California. After a 2-year win drought, “Double-T” put it all together and won Round #1 of the highly competitive Wright One Construction winged 360 Sprint car series.
While Tommy was celebrating his win on Ocean’s straightaway, Peter was also celebrating his own win. Peter was given the opportunity to drive a Mini-Sprint at Plaza Park Raceway’s 1/5 mile. Peter made the most out of this opportunity, as he also took the checkers in Round #1 of the Super-600 class.
“It was a lot of fun, and there was a great field of cars. Jason Rogers and I went back and forth for the win. He really earned my respect,” Commented Peter after his Friday night win.
Saturday, Team Tarlton headed south for Bakersfield Speedway’s 1/3 mile high banked clay oval, to do battle in opening night Bandit non-wing Sprint car action.
With the visor down and the belts tight, it was all business for Peter. He proceeded to dominate the evening by stealing quick time, winning heat 1, then he capped off the evening by getting his “elbows up” and win the main event.
“Team Tarlton had a great weekend. I was really happy that Tommy won Friday, and I had to keep the momentum going!” Peter continued, “I knew Rusty Carlile would be tough. After watching him in his heat race, I knew that he would be right there at the end, he was real fast.”
Peter will be in action again this Saturday night, piloting a “Team Tarlton” non-wing Sprint car, April 12th for the Bandit/VRA Grand Slam Series at Kings Speedway in Hanford, California.
