SILVER CROWN GEARS UP FOR RICHMOND; RAIN FORCES POSTPONEMENT OF “HOOSIER HUNDRED”
|
MAY 26, 2008 --- USAC’s K & N Silver Crown Championship Series is gearing up for the June 27-28 “James River Grounds 100” at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. The event is part of RIR’s racing weekend which includes the Sun Trust Indy Challenge Indy Car race.
The Richmond event features a battle between series co-leaders Jerry Coons Jr. and Bud Kaeding, who remain tied for the lead after rains forced postponement of last Friday’s 56th “Hoosier Hundred” at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. USAC and Track Enterprises officials are considering possible rescheduling for the “Hoosier Hundred” and a new date, if secured, will be announced when it becomes firm.
Kaeding is the defending series titlist, while Coons won the 2007 series finale at Rossburg, Ohio. Brian Tyler, currently eighth in this year’s standings, won last year’s Richmond race.
