PLACERVILLE, CA – The 2008 New Car Dealers of El Dorado County, Hoosier Racing Tires, Coors Light-Corona championship racing season continues this Saturday night at Alan Padjen’s Placerville Speedway. The action packed bullring on the El Dorado County Fairground will host four exciting divisions including the winged 360 sprint cars, the wingless Joe Hunt Magnetos wingless sprint cars along with Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.
Saturday’s event marks the third point race of the season for the winged sprint cars. In this division Colby Wiesz of Colfax leads the early season point standings after two straight top five finishes. Willie Croft of Sacramento is currently second in the standings followed by former two-time champion David Robinson Jr. of Foresthill. Placerville’s Jimmy Trulli sits fourth in the ranks ahead of fellow local drivers Andy Gregg and Scott Russell of Placerville. Andy Forsberg of Auburn sits in seventh ahead of Myles Bishop, Justin Johnson and Scott Kinney.
In the Pro Stock division, two time winner Dan Brown Jr. of Nevada City leads the point standings. Brown is trailed by former four time super stock champion Dennis Ahart of Cameron Park, Jeff Arbogast of Auburn and Forryst Carnett of Placerville. Del Tremblay of Camino is one spot out of the top six followed by Dennis Armstrong of El Dorado, Ray Trimble of Auburn and Placerville’s James Boss and Robert
Appino.
Pollock Pines driver Brian Stevens is the new leader in the Pure Stock division. Stevens currently leads Rick Grunert of Woodland in the standings. Chris Curtiss of Placerville is third ahead of Cameron Park’s Jared Vilt, Danielle Clauson and BJ. Hauck. Keith Fournier, Tom Grady, Scott Grunert and Ken Vogele Jr. round out the top ten.
The wingless sprint cars of the Joe Hunt Magnetos Placerville Speedway vs. Silver Dollar Speedway championship series will make its second straight appearance of the year here. In this division look for point leader Keith Bloom to lead the roster along with second place Cody Myers, Taylor Simas and Mason Myers. Justin Funkhouser rounds out the top five in the standings ahead of Terry Schank Jr., Billy Wallace, Jimmy Pettit, Kenny Weber and Reyna Kruger.
With the wingless sprint cars joining the three weekly divisions this week, the action is sure to be top notch at Placerville Speedway this Saturday night. The gates will open at 5 p.m. with qualifying beginning at 6:30.
