Bay Cities Racing Association, Jack London Bash part of day long festivities at El Dorado County Fairgrounds

PLACERVILLE, CA – This Saturday night Placerville Speedway goes totally topless for the 14th championship point race of the season. Guys, before you get too excited were talking totally topless race cars in the form of midgets, midget lites and wingless sprint cars. The three open wheel divisions will be joined by the Placerville Pure Stocks and Pro Stock divisions.
Saturday is a big day for the Bay Cities Racing Association as they will hold their annual Hall of Fame Picnic and “Jack London Bash” at the El Dorado County Fairground. This event will induct six individuals into the BCRA Hall of Fame and will offer Tri-Tip, Hot Dogs, Chili and more to those in attendance. The event takes place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with lunch taking place at noon and the inductions at 1:30. Those being inducted into the BCRA Hall of fame will include Midget Owners ave Thurston, Phelps Gooch and Eddie Bennett. Hardtop owner Hank Scettrini will be inducted along with Midget-Lite Owner-Drivers Doug Williams and Terry Caves. Tickets to Saturday’s event at $15 for adults and $5 for kids in advance. Saturday night, the mightly midgets of the BCRA will take to Placerville’s action packed bullring along with the midget lites that will compete wingless for the night. The Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Cars will be in competition as well. In this division, Hunt is awarding each entrant in the division a complimentary five gallons of methanol for their attendance at the event. The gesture is an effort to help drivers assist with the high prices of fuel and draw a healthy car count for this night of action packed open wheel racing. Saturday will be the 24th point race of the season for this division that competes at both Chico and Placerville for championship points.
The three open wheel divisions are being joined by Placerville Speedway’s Pro Stock division and Pure Stock division. The Pro Stock division will be competing in their 12th event of the season while the Pure Stocks will be taking part in their 13th Hoosier Racing Tires, New Car Dealers of El Dorado County, Arnolds for Awards championship event of the season.
The gates to Placerville Speedway will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday with qualifying starting at 6:30 followed by an action packed racing program. Adult tickets will be $12, juniors and seniors $10 and Children will be $5. Those under six will be admitted for free.
