Jimmy Pettit wins 4th main event of season at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday
By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – July 21, 2008…Looking for another win going into this past Friday night’s event at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Chico’s Jimmy Pettit did just that by claiming his fourth wingless sprint car victory of the season aboard the Pep Boys, Pro Machine Racing Engines No. 24p.

Pettit began the night by charging forward in his heat to come from sixth to second and put himself as one the highest drivers in points after heat race competition. When the number zero pill was drawn for the inversion it put the Skyway Tools, Kevin Sharrah Designs sprinter on the outside of the front row for the main event.

Starting on the pole was wingless ace Darrell Hanestad and as he and Pettit rounded turn four to take the green flag contact was made between the pair and it sent Hanestad upside down wildly on the front stretch. Pettit was able to keep going and maintain his front row starting spot and it paid off as he took the lead when racing got back underway.

Pettit’s previous win on June 6 saw him lead all the way and although he had to deal with a fast moving Cody Smith on this night, the driver known as “Loveshack” was able to remain strong and drove hard to take the checkered flag in first place and score his fourth wingless victory of the Silver Dollar Speedway season.

The victory was extra special for the Chico driver since it was his wife Ann’s birthday. “It feels great to get another win here and it’s been fun this year since there isn’t any pressure because I’m not racing for points,” Pettit said. “We’ve been hitting the set-up and the car has been good all year and I’m looking forward to trying to get number five next week.”

Pettit’s drive-for-five will occur this coming Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway as the wingless sprint cars will run alongside the traveling Golden State Challenge King of California Series. By not running in Placerville this past Saturday Pettit dropped to sixth in the JPM wingless standings and will look move back closer to the top five on Friday.

We would also like to welcome Ing Excavation who has come on board as a new supporter of the team.
