NMRA TQ Midgets At Santa Maria This Saturday |

Who: NMRA Three-Quarter Midgets
What: Race #8 of the 2008 NMRA Season When: Saturday August 16, 2008 Where: Santa Maria Speedway Why: Before the July 12th event at Santa Maria, Chuck West held a 33 point lead. In the 3 events since then, West has doubled his points lead. Even with three wins in the previous three races, West has used consistency in the last three, coupled with some bad luck for 2nd place in points Scott Dobson, to extend his lead. West will be looking for his series leading fourth win of the year when NMRA returns to Santa Maria this Saturday. Giving West his main competition will be Randy Moody, who is expected to be in Dave Lambert’s #55 and Kenny Wiley in his Paul Lopiccolo’s #21. Moody won the last time out at Ventura in a near race-long battle with Wiley. Wiley finished 2nd and West came home 3rd. Last time out at Santa Maria, it was a battle between the points leaders as West snuck under Dobson late in the race to take the win. Dobson will be looking to repeat that performance or make it one spot better instead of his June 7th performance at Santa Maria, where the car ended up on the hook at the end of the night. This year’s rookie class continues to shine as Anthony Lopiccolo continues his consistent tear of 4 Top 5’s in his six starts this year. Last time at Santa Maria, Jimmy Dodson wowed the crowd with the 2nd fastest qualifying time of the night in only his 5th start ever in a TQ. The TQs will be joined by the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, who are making their second appearance at the Santa Maria Speedway and the track’s Mini Stock division. Tickets are $15, kids 6-12 are $5 and kids under six are free. |
