NMRA TQ Midgets At Bakersfield This Saturday |

Who: NMRA Three-Quarter Midgets What: Race #6 of the 2008 NMRA Season When: Saturday July 19, 2008 Spectator gates open @ 5 PM Racing @ 6 PM Where: 5001 N Chester Ext Bakersfield, CA 93308 SR 99 (North of Bakersfield) to 7th Standard Rd. 3.6 miles east to the light at N. Chester Ave. Left (north) 0.4 miles then right on N. Chester Ext for 0.4 miles. Speedway on left. For ticket prices and race night info call: 661-393-3373 Why: Chuck West continued a hot summer as he took his third win in a row at the Santa Maria Speedway last weekend. West returns to Bakersfield, where his streak started last month, looking for four in a row. The rest of the NMRA contingent will have their work cut out for them as they put in their best to stop the West juggernaut. Scott Dobson did his best to break West’s streak at Santa Maria and for 17 laps, it appeared he would. Dobson gave up the lead to West, as the duo raced through lap traffic. Dobson finished his good run in second but still lost ground to West in the points standings. West’s lead over Dobson now stands at 36 points. Bruce Hiroshima earned his 2nd straight third place finish at Santa Maria and will hope for better luck than last time at Bakersfield Speedway, when he suffered mechanical issues and failed to start the feature. Kenny Wiley was able to fight through back injuries to a fourth place finish at Santa Maria. Wiley finished third in the season opener at Bakersfield in April but could only manage a sixth last month. West Evans hopes to improve on his second place finish last month by one and find the winner’s circle there as well. Joining the NMRA T/Q Midgets on the card, Saturday night, will be local divisions the IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, American Stocks, and Mini Stocks.
