NCMA Sprints
Altamont Raceway Park - Tracy, CA
August 9, 2008 --- Pat Ariaz, pilot of the Alume-Line XX took his 360
Sprinter to the front today and won his third race of 2008 at Altamont Raceway
Park. Ariaz has proven himself twice at “the Fastest Half-Mile in the West”,
and at All American Speedway, Roseville, CA this season.
Ariaz, of Manteca set fast time to start the day with Napa’s David Goodwill
a very close second quick qualifier. Third fast for the day was Jeff Burrows,
also of Manteca.
Burt Siverling and David Burchett brought the pack to the green. Rob Hammond
and Burrows came in behind them; Goodwill and Ariaz started fifth and sixth
after a six car inversion. Burrows took a leap and led the first lap, with Ariaz
and Goodwill in hot pursuit. By the next go-round Ariaz moved ahead of Burrows
to the lead. Goodwill was running third and Hammond’s Hale Lumber sprinter
held onto fourth. One-third of the race gone and Ariaz was still leading,
Goodwill giving him a run for it, and Hammond had pulled into third. With all
the happenings in the front, Modesto’s Racing Farmer, Ed Amador was working
his way through from the very last starting position. These gentlemen of the
race track went twenty-five laps with nary a caution, finishing the complete
race in just over Eight Minutes. Ariaz put another feather in his cap; Goodwill
came in a close second. Rob Hammond had an outstanding third place finish and
Amador made it all the way from last to fourth. Burrows rounded out the top
five.
NCMA Sprints will have a weekend off before tackling Altamont Raceway Park
again on Saturday, August 23th. Please join us as we head into the second half
of NCMA’s 20th Anniversary season.
