Tracy, CA - July 19, 2008 --- When David Goodwill figures something out, he carries it right over to the next race. The racing Dentist from Napa claimed his second victory of the 2008 season at Altamont Motorsports Park today.
Pat Ariaz of Manteca, after spending most of the morning working at his real job as an Ag teacher and helping his students with a prescheduled event, had one lap to feel the new setup on his sprinter, and set fast time for the day. Goodwill was second quick. Rob Hammond who is his own crew was third.
Concord’s Burt Siverling and Ed Amador from Modesto, two of NCMA’s longest racing members, brought the 360 sprints to the green flag. Amador’s Toste Dairy #76 took the front with Goodwill already around the pack and right on his tail. Ariaz stayed right with Goodwill and they were both chomping at Amador. Siverling was having a problem and came to rest at the top of the track until help pushed him back to the pits. David Burchett who was having major brake problems also took an early exit. On the restart, Amador held on for a little bit but Goodwill and Ariaz both got around him. Goodwill in his Piner’s Welding Supply #3 got to the fresh air and was a few car lengths ahead of Ariaz. Amador hung on for third with Hammond and Jeff Burrows trying to move him outta there! Ariaz continued pursuing Goodwill, several lengths behind him, Amador, Hammond and Burrows in the fight. On the very last lap coming to the last turn, Ariaz had a spinout and the Amador, Hammond and Burrows freight train pulled right past him. Goodwill took his second win. Amador was second; Hammond’s Hale Lumber #17 was third. Manteca’s Burrows was fourth and Ariaz salvaged fifth. Earlier in the day, Goodwill stated, “If I had known how much fun the pavement was I would have raced on it years ago.”
NCMA takes to the dirt of Ocean Speedway, Watsonville next Friday night, July 25th for another Select Series race. Check OceanSpeedway.com for starting time. Come and join NCMA as we continue to celebrate 20 Years of racing.
