Haubstadt, IN. - July 7th. The Midwest Sprint Car Series event scheduled for Union County Speedway Thursday July 3rd was called off before noon due to morning rainfall. The forecast for Liberty, IN, and the surrounding area also called for more rainfall during the evening. This would have been the only race during July for the series.
This cancellation was the third due to rain this season for the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series. So far this season 6 of the 9 races scheduled have been held. Six more remain on the schedule for 2008 beginning with back to back races to be held at Paducah International Raceway and Tri-State Speedway on August 1st and 2nd. That weekend Tri-State Speedway will be hosting the Hoosier Sprint Nationals paying $10,000 to win. Incoming race teams and series regulars are expected to make the connection for the two tracks that weekend.
The MSCS Series also has a September 12th date at Union County Speedway. That race will pay $3,000 to the winner and will be on a Friday night. Tom Wieck is the promoter at the 3/8's mile track this season.
