APRIL 29, 2008 --- Manzanita Speedway has a goal of helping the children at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital make it through their stay. The track is urging all fans who attend the May 2 & 3 races and/or the May 9-10 programs to bring a gently used or new stuffed animal. The stuffed animals will be given to the Children’s Hospital. The hospital uses these stuffed animals to help calm the children when they are in for treatments, surgeries, etc. The drive started last weekend and was enthusiastic embraced with toys and cash.
The May 3 race will be in memory of Kole Caskey, a youngster whose family was deeply involved in racing. On this night there will be an autograph session where the Caskey family will hand out over 400 checkered flags to the fans. Manzy will be holding a 50/50 raffle as well as silent and live auctions. All the proceeds will be split between the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the Driver’s Fund of Arizona. in Kole’s memory. Manzanita is asking all racing teams and the community to come together and "Bear It".
The track is also celebrating Cinco De Mayo on both May 2 and May 3 and is giving a five dollar discount to those fans wearing a Sombrero or a Poncho. There will be a happy hour that ends with the start of the first race each evening. For more information call the track at 602 276-7575.
