This weekend The KJ Motorsports Team competed in a Checkered Flag Sprint Series sanctioned race at Charlotte County Motorsports Park in Punta Gorda, FL.
A total of 16 cars showed up to qualify. Keith started on the pole of his heat race. Keith pulled away from the field on the start and was able to dominate the heat race.
As the cars lined up for the feature, Keith was positioned in the 5th spot. The green flag flew and the cars in front of Keith got a very slow start. After the first lap, Keith had passed the top four cars and was leading the race. Keith continued to lead with only one car providing him competition. It was his brother Shane Butler. Pulled away from the field, Shane knocked on Keith's rear bumper for about 13 laps. On lap 17, restarting after a caution, Keith took the green and lead into turn one. Unfortunately, Keith slid up in the third turn and Shane was able to get on the inside of him. At that point Keith and Shane touched wheels and sent Keith spinning. His spin ended with no damage and not being collected by any other car. After his spin Keith restarted in the rear and Shane was also sent to the rear for his involvement in the incident. On the next restart, Keith began to pick his way through the field. One by one, Keith moved his way through the field, when the checkered flag flew Keith finished in 5th position.
David Slawiak took the win, for his second win of the season. Gary Gimmler finished second and Scott Adema finished third.
