JULY 7, 2008 --- Mike Spencer continues to lead the 2008 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car series standings at mid-season following his runner-up finish behind Danny Sheridan Friday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. The race marked Spencer’s fourth runner-up and sixth podium finish this year.
Sheridan, of Santa Maria, Calif., nabbed his third Perris victory of the 2008 campaign in the Kittle Plumbing/Pace Lightning Stinger/Chevy. He was the fourth leader of the 30-lap contest, pacing the final 11 circuits after working his way past Spencer. Alan Ballard led the first 10 laps and finished third, while Garrett Hansen and Cory Kruseman rounded out the “top-five.”
Saturday night’s race witnessed the return of former USAC/CRA Champion Rip Williams, who is recovered from a broken foot suffered in an early-season accident. Williams led briefly during the race but eventually finished 19th.
