SPENCER TAKES POINT LEAD, HEADS BACK TO PERRIS SATURDAY; BROWN RECORDS FIRST USAC/CRA TRIUMPH AT SANTA MARIA |

JUNE 16, 2008 --- Mike Spencer took advantage of Cory Kruseman’s one-race USAC/CRA hiatus Saturday to snatch the series point lead by finishing second to Tyler Brown in last Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway. He has a 53-point lead over Kruseman entering this Saturday night’s return to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. Brown of Norco, Calif. is the newest member of the USAC/CRA Sprint Car feature winners list, grabbing the checkered flag at Santa Maria in his Gardner Pipe & Mechanical/Endless Powder Coating Chalk/Shaver. Brown passed Jimmy Crawford on lap nine and never looked back as he led Spencer, Danny Sheridan, fast qualifier Blake Miller and Davey Pombo to the finish. Albert Pombo led the first two laps and Crawford led the next six. Kruseman and Spencer have accounted for 19 victories in the USAC/CRA series at The PAS. Kruseman has three wins this year and a career total of 13, while Spencer’s one win in 2008 brought his career total at Perris to six. Other Perris Auto Speedway race winners this season have been Johnny Rodriguez, Danny Sheridan and Rickie Gaunt.
