MAY 12, 2008 --- Cory Kruseman, Mike Spencer and Blake Miller take their battle for the 2008 USAC/CRA Sprint Car point lead back to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway May 24 for the tracks’ annual “Salute to Indy,” the finale in the “Power of Purple Nights” honoring the American Cancer Society. A May 25 USAC/CRA race is also slated at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.
Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, Calif. led the final four laps of Saturday night’s 30-lapper at Perris, scoring his second victory of the 2008 campaign. Sheridan passed Garrett Hansen on lap 27 and led David Cardey, Hansen, Tony Jones and Seth Wilson to the checkered flag.
Fast qualifier and series point leader Kruseman failed to finish the 30-lapper and his point lead over Spencer, who finished sixth Saturday, slipped to 22 points going into the May 24 “Salute to Indy” race at Perris. Sheridan piloted the Kittle Motorsports Scott Sales Company/Pace Electronics Stinger/Chevy.
Alex Schutte led the first seven laps of the race and Hansen led the next 19 before Sheridan moved to the front.
Miller has quietly crept forward in the standings to third place on the strength of seven “top-10” finishes, including a victory at Las Vegas, Nev. in February.
