MAY 5, 2008 --- USAC/CRA Sprint Car point leader Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif. continues his pursuit of a Damion Gardner record Saturday night, hoping to notch his 14th USAC/CRA Sprint win at the 1/2-mile Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Gardner has won 19 USAC/CRA races at the storied oval, while Kruseman moved into second all-time ahead of Tony Jones with his April 26 win. Cory won one in 2004, six in 2005, one in 2006, two in 2007, plus three already this season.
Mike Spencer trails Kruseman in the series standings by 54 points going into Saturday’s event, a continuance of the track’s “Power of Purple Nights,” saluting the American Cancer Society.
Ranking 23rd on the all-time list of USAC feature winners in all series with 54 career triumphs, Kruseman’s next win would tie the mark of 55 wins set by the late Roger McCluskey.
