MARCH 24, 2008 --- A bevy of drivers will square off for the 2008 USAC/CRA
Sprint Car Series point lead Saturday night when the series returns to its
“home” track, Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Separated by only 45 points in the latest standings are Cory Kruseman, Mike
Spencer, Levi Jones, Blake Miller and Garrett Hansen. Kruseman leads by five
over Spencer, with Jones 10 back, Miller 15 in arrears and Hansen the trailer.
Kruseman won the first two Perris races in February, but Danny Sheridan,
sixth in the current standings, was the winner when the series competed at the
1/2-mile dirt oval March 8.
So far, Kruseman is the only repeat winner, with six different drivers taking
the last six USAC/CRA features. A victory by Kruseman Saturday would make him
the second winningest USAC/CRA driver in Perris history. He and defending series
champion Tony Jones are tied with 12 career Perris wins, compared to Damion
Gardner’s 19.
