Keith Bloom Wins Seventh Feature of the Year
by Troy Hennig

CHICO, CA (7-25-08) - There has been no one better than Keith Bloom Jr. this season at Silver Dollar Speedway. The “kid”, Bloom Jr., won his seventh main event of the year during the Joe Hunt Magneto's Wingless Sprint Car Friday night Feather Falls Casino Series. The points battle also includes races at Placerville Speedway. Bloom Jr. is known as a rim rider who uses the cushion to make things happen in this division. “I used to drive that way in the outlaw karts,” said Bloom Jr. in victory lane. Tonight was no exception as he showed the field the fast way around the track. Terry Schank Jr. was driving the Orth family sprinter #24. The Orth non-wing sprinter is one of the most competitive cars in the division that has a rotation of solid drivers. Tonight it was Schank's turn to move through the field. He started in the sixth position and worked his way up to second. To his credit Schank Jr. was also using the high side and charged through the field. He tried to catch Bloom Jr. at the end but was 0.582 short of completing the pass for the win.

Orland's Reyna Krueger started third and ended up third. She hung in with the top cars all night. In fact, Krueger at one point moved into a position to take second but got bottled up by a slower car. Grass Valley driver Jay Youngman started on the outside of the front row but drifted back to a fourth place finish. Youngman has only made a handful of starts this season after suffering a bad wreck during last years Wingless Nationals. Youngman has been a strong competitor the last three years and has been missed this season. Chico's Mitch Miller moved from the seventh starting spot to finish fifth. Miller is enjoying a strong rookie season. Look for Miller and his crew to be featured on the Silver Dollar Minute upcoming on a Thursday night. The Silver Dollar Minute takes place on local channels 12 and 24. This year we have featured Keith Bloom Jr., Taylor Simas, RC and Cody Smith and Mitch Miller. It's great opportunity to get recognition for this competitive division.

Mason Myers had issues on lap six when he stopped and the yellow came out. The Rocket Man Mark Abouzeid stopped in turn four when his motor seized. Abouzeid was up in the top ten when the motor failed. Orland driver Tony Boscacci also wrecked. The main event was a smooth event with great racing and quick laps turned in by all the drivers.

Bloom Jr. said in victory lane, “I have to thank my family and crew again for the amazing car they give me to race with.” Bloom Jr. now holds a 61-point lead over Orland's Taylor Simas. Simas has two wins this year and holds a 91-point advantage over Mason Myers. Mason's brother is currently fourth in points and holds a 70-point lead over Reyna Krueger in fifth.

Cody Myers and Terry Schank Jr. each won exciting heat races for the division.
