See You At The Races!!!

 Press Release

Girls, Girls, Girls
by Troy Hennig

(Chico, CA 7-09-08)...The theme of this weekends races at Silver Dollar Speedway will feature the return of two prominent female racers in the winged 410 sprint car division at Chico. Oroville's Destiney Hays and Penngrove's Alissa Geving will both be racing Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Joining these two open wheel stars in the female ranks will be Emalee Ramirez of Yuba City. Ramirez is in her rookie season at Chico and has experienced the highs and lows of learning how to handle the powerful winged sprint cars. Adding to the female racing theme is Heather Bartlett and Reyna Krueger of Orland.
It was announced this past Saturday night that Oroville's Destiney Hays would return to her home track at Silver Dollar Speedway for the July 11 and 12 races. Hays has teamed up with Dan Simpson Racing and together the two will race as teammates. Their schedule shows racing throughout the rest of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway along with other outside adventures. “I'm not nervous now, but I'm sure next Friday it was will a little scary,” said Hays when asked on the microphone at Chico about her debut the following week. He last full-time season was in 2003 at Chico. For the last two years Hays has been working with the family business in Oroville and not racing. Last week she signed a deal that will have her race 30 times this year including World of Outlaw races in Canada, Washington, Montana and Oregon.

Alissa Geving continues to impress fans in Northern California. She currently sits seventh in the California Sprint Car Civil War Series. Geving is the current point leader at Petaluma Speedway in the 360 winged sprints. This Friday she will drive a second car for Garth Moore. Moore is sponsoring the night and wanted to add Geving to his stable of cars including his own son Mason. “I'm looking forward to going back to Chico,” said Geving. “I loved racing their Friday nights until we lost our 410 motor. I would really like to thank Garth Moore for the opportunity to drive their second car. I'm looking forward to the night.”

Chico's Heather Bartlett not only races in the Street Stock division but currently is the point leader. Bartlett said one night in victory lane, “I love competing in this male dominated sport and to be able to hold my own is awesome.” Bartlett is one of the fan favorites every time the “pink” colored #99 hits the track. But don't let the color of her car fool you. Bartlett is an aggressive racer who doesn't back down from a challenge on the race track. “I take pride in trading a little paint,” said Bartlett before a race two weeks ago.

Orland's Reyna Krueger is also one of the crowd favorites while competing in the competitive non-wing sprint car division. Krueger is currently sixth in the point standings, even after struggling this year with motor issues. She also drove a winged 360 sprint car during the fair races this year. Krueger has 11 top ten main event finishes in 14 starts. That places here in a tie for third with the most this year in the wingless division. Krueger has hopes of moving into the winged division next year. Her wingless stats are proof that she will have no problem moving up the ranks.

Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. Adult general admission is $11.00. Seniors and Juniors are $9.00 and children are $5.00.
