Checkered Flag Sprint Series Coming To Citrus County Speedway
|
On August 16th the best non-wing sprint car drivers in the state will converge on Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida, for the 35 lap Gulf American Construction and Development Corp. sponsored event sanctioned by Checkered Flag Sprint Series.
This will be the first race at Citrus County for Florida's newest sprint car racing series. The series features high-powered wingless sprints, with heat races and feature main event. The last time out for the series was the 4th of July at Charlotte County, where fans were treated to an exciting 18 car battle won by veteran sprinter Keith Butler.
Series promoter Don Rehm stated, "We've had a steady consistent growth and we have been able to keep increasing car counts, and finally have some more tracks looking at us. I feel very comfortable with that."
The 35 lap feature, sponsored by J. B. Banta Enterprises, was a hard fought battle for positions one through eighteen, putting on a great show for the fans. Keith Butler was the winner and recipient of the $500.00 Barfield Clean Sweep award for winning the heat and feature events. David Slawiak won the Real Racin USA ‘Hard Charger’ award, starting ninth and finishing second.
David Slawiak, winner of three events this year, has a slim Championship points lead over Butler and South Florida sprinters Gary Gimmler and Scott Adema.
At Citrus County Speedway the CFSS sprinters will run heats and 35 lap feature that will pay $1,120.00 to win and $ 280.00 to start the feature.
Pit gate opens at 2:00 pm, front gate opens at 4:00 pm. Hot laps start at 3:00 till 5:15 pm, heat races start at 5:30 pm.
The race originally scheduled at Charlotte County Speedway for August 23rd was canceled, in part, to prevent a scheduling conflict with another racing organization.
