Checkered Flag Sprint Series |

FEBRUARY 22, 2008 --- We would like to thank everyone that participated in the
‘first’ Checkered Flag Sprint Series event! Thanks to all the owners,
drivers and fans that helped make the inaugural race a success.
Our next show will be Saturday, March 1st at Charlotte County Motorsports Park. This will be our first point’s race for the 2008 season. We have procured contingency sponsors as well as a point fund sponsor. Jeff and Lee Barfield have volunteered to anti up the first $5,000.00 to start the account. Tire sales and other funding sources will help grow the account for a nice pay off at the end of the season. The following are a list of the contingency sponsors to date: Hoosier Racing Tires Landrum Performance Springs Rod End Supply Saldana Racing Products Bilstein Shocks All-Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Leaf Racewear These sponsors will be providing product or certificates towards the purchase of products. We will keep you apprised when new sponsors come on board. To be eligible for these awards you must run the sponsors decals. Decals will be available at the track. The pits at Charlotte County will be open on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. They will have an open practice until 2:00 p.m., with regular practice by classes from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Drivers meeting will be at 5:00 p.m. with racing starting at 6:00 p.m. Doug ‘Wild Child’ is back! He’ll be at all our races this year and will provide the consistency that can only help our shows. With Curtis, Jemma, Ann Gimmler, Jim and Beverly Reid, John Simon, Steve Hensley, Jennifer, Heather and Doug we are well on our way to having an experienced team in place. Since the March 1st race will be the first point’s race for 2008, we will once again use the ‘pill draw’ format for lineups. Future races will use the 4-week average format. The 2008 rulebooks will be available at the track. We now have a web site – it’s CFSseries.com. Check it out and watch it grow! We’ll need information from each race team to use on the web site and for the track announcers. Please see Jemma for the forms. We hope to see you all at Punta Gorda on March 1.
