Sherman Shines in ASCS Canyon Region Go at Manzanita |

Lonnie Wheatley, PHOENIX, Ariz. (August 9, 2008) – Reigning series champion Jeremy Sherman extended his Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region points lead by winning Saturday night's 30-lap feature atop Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval. Working his way forward from the 12th starting position, Sherman took the lead away from polesitter R.J. Johnson in the final half of the race en route to his eighth series win of the year aboard Fred Bryan's Wesmar-powered F&E Development No. 77. Sherman took the checkered flag in front of Mike Martin, with Shon Deskins earning Hard Charger honors by racing from 22nd to claim the show position. Johnson was fourth, with Andrew Reinbold advancing a dozen positions to round out the top five. Nathan High climbed from 13th to sixth, with Chris Bonneau, Charles Davis, Jr., Mike Leslie and 20th-starter Bernie Smith completing the top ten. Leslie, Bob Ream, Jr., and Martin topped heat race action, while Justin Fisher snared his second Trophy Dash win in a row. Discount Tire Co.
