ASCS Canyon Region at USA Race Park on Saturday! |

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (July 7, 2008) – The Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region makes its second Tucson appearance of the 2008 season with this Saturday night's invasion of United Sports Arizona Race Park. It marks the series first outing at USA Race Park since April, when Charles Davis, Jr., claimed the second of his four ASCS Canyon Region victories this season. While Davis tries to add a second Tucson score on Saturday night, he'll also try to put a stop to Jeremy Sherman's latest streak and cut into "The Shermanator's" points lead in the process. Sherman enters Saturday's card with a three-race win streak, extending his season total to six victories while also stretching his series point lead to 52 markers over Davis. Yuma's Mike Martin enters the weekend ranked third in points behind Sherman and Davis, with Josh Pelkey and R.J. Johnson knotted in a tie for fourth. Just two points behind Pelkey and Johnson is Nathan High, currently sixth in points. The balance of the current top ten entering Saturday night's event includes Andrew Reinbold, Mike Leslie, Justin Fisher and Thomas Ogle. Certificates will be awarded to each of the heat race winners, with Racing Optics sponsoring heat race one, MPD Race Products sponsoring heat race two, Winters Performance sponsoring heat race three and Sunoco sponsoring heat race four. Arizona Race Mart sponsors the Trophy Dash, while Sunoco will also award a certificate to each "B" Main winner in ASCS Canyon Region action this year. Parker Store sponsors the Roll for Inversion. Saturday's Discount Tire Co. ASCS Canyon Region action at Tucson's USA Race Park is set to go green at 7:00 p.m. United Sports Arizona Race Park is located east of Tucson off I-10 Exit 268, then 1.6 mile south on Craycroft Road, which turns into Los Reales. ASCS Canyon Region brings the best in non-wing Sprint Car racing to Arizona with a full slate of 30 nights of racing in 2008. In addition to events atop both the ½-mile and 1/3-mile ovals at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, the series will also be in action at Tucson's USA Race Park and Casa Grande's Central Arizona Raceway over the course of the season. The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
