Davis Charges Into ASCS Canyon Region Victory Lane |

Lonnie Wheatley, PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 5, 2008) – Charles Davis, Jr., made a late move to capture his first Discount Tire Co. ASCS Canyon Region feature win of the year in Saturday night's 30-lap feature atop Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval. Starting from the front row outside, Davis outgunned polesitter Mike Bonneau for the early lead. But Casey Shuman was on the march from his eighth starting position, soon taking the lead as he vied for his second win in as many tries atop Manzy's short track. Davis was not to be denied though, battling back around Shuman in the closing stages to take the win aboard the Don Ott-powered Massey Motorsports/Rod End Supply No. 50 DRC. Current series point leader Jeremy Sherman slipped by Shuman as well to take runner-up honors after starting 12th, with Shuman crossing the stripe in third. Nathan High was fourth, with Andrew Reinbold rounding out the top five. Jeremy Reagles, Mike Colegrove, Mike Martin, Thomas Ogle and Bobby Taylor completed the top ten. Ogle earned Hard Charger honors by racing from 20th to claim ninth. Sherman edged Reagles to win the night's opening heat race as the pair swapped sliders on the final lap, with R.J. Johnson and Colegrove also taking heat race wins. Mike Martin won the Trophy Dash. Discount Tire Co.
