Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (February 25, 2008) – With the Discount Tire Co.
ASCS Canyon Region's March 8 season opener at Manzanita Speedway just around the
corner, the series is set for Tech Day this Saturday, March 1.
The ASCS Canyon Region Tech Day takes place Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m., hosted by Steve Stroud and The Phoenix Parker Store located at 3518 E.
Broadway Road.
ASCS Canyon Region Race Director Ron Shuman and the ASCS National tech crew
among those on hand to ensure the safety and legality of the ASCS Canyon Region
contingent, with breakfast also served from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a swap
meet included in the day's activities as well.
All teams planning on competing in the Tribute to Jimmy Blanton atop
Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval on Saturday night, March 8, or any other
Discount Tire Co. ASCS Canyon Region events over the course of 2008 are
encouraged to get their cars teched in advance. Membership forms will be
available as well.
The Discount Tire Co. ASCS Canyon Region embarks upon a full slate of 29
nights of racing action throughout Arizona with the March 8 opener atop
Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval, with other series' venues for 2007
including Manzanita's ½-mile as well as Tucson's USA Race Park and Casa
Grande's Central Arizona Raceway.
The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with 14 different
Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint
Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year
of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100
different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
