Lakewood, CA. – Sprint car
driver “Cowboy” Tony Jones will be on hand to talk racing with his many race
fans Saturday afternoon, February 24, at the Zanzabuku Sports Lounge in
Lakewood
. Jones, who finished third in USAC/CRA points in 2006 and won eight main events
at Perris Auto Speedway, will be appearing with his Alexander Racing team sprint
car at the popular
Lakewood
bar beginning at
1 p.m.
The Torrance based racing team
begins the 2007 season with races scheduled for Perris on Saturday, February 3,
two races at Manzanita in Phoenix, AZ. the weekend
of February 9-10, and then for another show at Perris on Saturday,
February 17. USAC/CRA has a 41-race schedule planned for this season.
Jones is a second generation
driver following in the footsteps of his legendary father
Norman
“Bubby” Jones, who is a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. He
won last year’s final race at Perris, the “Jack Kindoll Classic” and also
notched 20 Top-5 finishes. He and car owner Mark Alexander are considered a
strong contender for this year’s USAC/CRA sprint car title.
The Zanzabuku Sports Lounge is
a new sponsor for the Alexander and Jones team and plan a BBQ, raffles and a
door prize, 50/50 draws and racing videos in the afternoon to benefit the race
team. The USAC/CRA sprint cars have an off weekend for February 24. The popular
