JULY 24, 2007 --- USAC’s Lucas Oil Western and SLVRA Young Automotive Rocky
Mountain Sprint Car Series take this week off after combining for a 100-lap
race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City last Saturday night. The
Rocky Mountain Series resumes August 12 at RMR while the Western Sprints
resume action August 18 at Tracy, Calif.
Defending Rocky Mountain Champion Jimmy Wysong of Salt Lake City came out
of retirement Saturday to pilot Ted Finkenbinder’s Western Industrial
X-Ray/Tri-C Bailey/Chevy to a sensational victory in the 100-lap race in the
Utah capital. The win was Wysong’s 15th in USAC racing in the Beehive state
as he passed Kody Swanson on lap 20 and led the rest of the way.
JoJo Helberg finished second ahead of Rick Pardee, Ryan Burdett and Ryan
Kaplan.
Burdett continues to lead the Rocky Mountain standings while Kaplan hung
onto a 10-point lead in the tightly-contested Lucas Oil Western series.
