)Ventura Raceway returns to action this weekend September 15 at
5:30pm
with a full program of VRA 360 Sprint Cars, VRA Dwarf Cars, IMCA Modifieds and
our popular VRA Mini Dwarf Cars and Junior Midgets. Along with the VRA Sprints,
a special event featuring VRA/Western States Regional Dwarf Car racing will
highlight the evening. This race
will bring together top dwarf car racers from all over the western states to
race with our VRA Dwarf Cars. Several top drivers from
Northern California
,
Nevada
and
Arizona
are expected to be here. Also
competing Saturday night will be the IMCA Modifieds and our popular kid’s
classes.
Greg Taylor will lead the VRA Sprints into competition Saturday night. With
five wins under his belt in 2007, he leads Kevin Kierce by 265 points in the
season point’s battle. Others out
to challenge Taylor include Luis Espinoza, Dennis Rodriguez, Eric Severson and a
host of other fine VRA 360 drivers. As our 2007 season begins to wind down all
the teams are doing all they can to move up in the points. Competition will
remain top notch as we continue the battle to see who will come out on top of
the point’s race when the season ends in November.
The Western States Dwarf Car event this weekend will feature the top VRA
drivers led by Pro point leader Jim Scribellito and Senior point leader Ed
Niedzwiecki. Drivers from other
dwarf car sanctioning bodies from the Western Region will be here to challenge
these drivers for regional glory. Over
40 dwarf cars are expected to be a part of this night of top notch dwarf car
racing. This event will feature
races in two divisions, Pros and Seniors.
On our last regular event September 1, 26 IMCA Modifieds were signed in for
the night’s event. This was the
largest number of IMCA cars ever for a non-FAIR race.
Another night of over 20 cars is expected Saturday night as the IMCA
drivers wind down their season which has only this weekend and next weekend
September 22 to go. We will crown
our 2007 series champion that night. Jack
Parker currently leads the point’s race by 17 points over Steve Smith.
Other drivers expected to compete include Randy McGraw, Randy Miller,
Brad Prows, Rick and Austin Rodarte and many others.
The final group racing Saturday night will be the fast growing VRA kid’s
classes featuring Mini Dwarf Cars and Junior Midgets. Season point’s leaders
Riley Helland in Super Chargers, Ricky Lewis in Pistons and Jessica Clark in
Junior Midgets will be there to continue their quest to be VRA class champions
in 2007. These kid’s classes have
continued to grow with each night of racing.
